Portuguese designer Susana Soares has developed a device for detecting cancer and other serious diseases using trained bees. The bees are placed in a glass chamber into which the patient exhales; the bees fly into a smaller secondary chamber if they detect cancer.
Scientists have found that honey bees - Apis mellifera - have an extraordinary sense of smell that is more acute than that of a sniffer dog and can detect airborne molecules in the parts-per-trillion range.
Bees can be trained to detect specific chemical odours, including the biomarkers associated with diseases such as tuberculosis, lung, skin and pancreatic cancer.
"Siempre quejándote de todo, y a la vez fingiendo no darle importancia a nada. Vives de esperanzas, pero ni sabes qué esperas."
Julio Cortázar (via musadelosvientos)
A good way to fall in loveis to turn off the headlightsand drive very fast down dark roads.Another way to fall in loveis to say they are only mintsand swallow them with a strong drink. Then it is autumn in the body.Your hands are cold. Then it is winter and we are still at war.The gold-haired girl is singing into your earabout how we live in a beautiful country.Snow sifts from the cloudsinto your drink. It doesn’t matter about the war.A good way to fall in loveis to close up the garage and turn the engine on,then down you’ll fall through lovely mistsas a body might fall early one morningfrom a high window into love. Love, the broken glass. Love, the scissorsand the water basin. A good way to fallis with a rope to catch you.A good way is with something to drinkto help you march forward. The gold-haired girl says, Don’t worry
about the armies, says, We live in a timefull of love. You’re thinking about this too much.Slow down. Nothing bad will happen.— Kevin Pruffer, In A Beautiful Country
No amo mi patria.
Su fulgor abstracto
Pero (aunque suene mal)
daría la vida
por diez lugares suyos,
puertos, bosques de pinos,
por una ciudad deshecha,
varias figuras de su historia,
y tres o cuatro ríos.
